Meyers Foundation awards are made in the following areas:

  1. High School Graduates -

Application is limited to students residing in a Lenawee County, Michigan School District and graduating from a Lenawee County, Michigan High School, planning college studies in aeronautics, the sciences and allied fields (for example, aviation, space science, engineering, chemistry, natural sciences, medicine, etc.) and having grades permitting college entrance. See current policy regarding other considerations.

All applicants must submit a complete application package by the stipulated deadline as indicated on the application forms in order to be considered.

  2. Grants: Scientific Research Awards -

Institutions of learning and research may apply where projects are presented such as will generally help fulfill the goals of the Foundation. (Examples include, special courses for teaching methods and skills in the sciences, special lectureships, conferences to explore science frontiers, setting up special laboratories.) See current policy statement for applicability.

Other Considerations (Current Policy):

  1. Current policy is to award "starter grants" to selected student applicants only. Awards are made once to any individual and are only renewable under unusual circumstances. The Meyers Foundation is a perpetual one and only the income from the original funding is used in supporting grants.

  2. At this time no grants are being made to institutions for Scientific Research Awards.

  3. Notification of awards will be made immediately following the spring meeting of the Board of the Allen H. and Nydia Meyers Foundation. All applicants are notified as to the results, following this meeting.

  4. College undergraduates or graduate students may be considered for eligibility for scholarship awards for the purpose of continuing their education and completing their goals under some circumstances as deemed appropriate by the Board. Current policy does not allow consideration.

  5. All awards checks are made out to the institution where the study or work will be accomplished. These checks are sent to the appropriate school office in October and notification to the student is sent at that time. Institutional grants, when made, will be treated in the same manner.
