Origin:The Allen H. and Nydia Meyers Foundation was established in 1966 by Allen H. and Nydia Meyers to encourage, support and stimulate scientific education, teaching, research, and related efforts such as engineering and aerospace study and design. Since its existence, the Foundation has assisted approximately 700 individuals and institutions. The students have majored in such fields as aviation, aerospace sciences, biology, chemistry, engineering, medicine and nursing. The projects explored such areas as leukemia, cancer chemotherapy and sickle cell anemia. Grants-in-aid to medical departments have helped to convene scientists from all over the world to exchange their experiences in the frontiers of research, scientific concepts and philosophy. Objectives:The goal of the Foundation is to provide early financial support for young men and women interested in post secondary education for aeronautics or scientific careers. Applicants meeting eligibility requirements will be evaluated on academic purpose, character, leadership qualities, goals, work habits and extracurricular activities. Scholastic standing is reviewed.
